China Releases Indigenous Mobile TV Standard

China's SARFT (State Administration of Radio, Film and Television) has released a recommended standard for broadcasting multimedia content, such as television programs, on mobile devices including mobile phones. Coded GY/T220.1-2006, this homegrown standard is based on another indigenous technology STiMi (Satellite Terrestrial Interactive Multiservice Infrastructure) and will be formally implemented as of November 1, 2006.
